CYTA Teachers Directory: Vajra Yoga

Vajra Yoga
Jill Satterfield

Vajra Yoga is a synthesis of classical Hatha Yoga Asana, Buddhist Meditation, and Buddhist Tantra. The Hatha Yoga tradition offers the methods of asana and pranayama (breath) for bringing awareness deep into the body. Buddhist Meditation gives us the opportunity to look into our mind, and in Tibetan Buddhist Tantra, the mind plays the pre-eminate role in the health, configuration and consciousness of the body. Vajra Yoga combines these disciplines to deepen our understanding of both mind and body. Jill Satterfield has been practicing Hatha Yoga for over 25 years, teaching for 16, and been a student of Buddhism for over a decade. Jill's asana practice has been primarily in the Iyengar method informed by the philosophies of the Tibetan and Insight traditions of Buddhism. Vajra Yoga was developed as a natural integration of these practices. Jill lives in NYC and leads Vajra Yoga Teacher Training which is geared towards experienced and aspiring yoga teachers alike. She leads workshops on Vajra Yoga throughout the country and teaches regularly on meditation retreats.
